Hundreds of volunteers set to work in West next week

Hundreds of volunteers will be spending their spring break in West, helping to rebuild.

The West, Texas Foundation says they will be using more than 150 volunteers per day next week to work on homes that were damaged by last April's deadly fertilizer plant explosion. The volunteers will be cleaning up glass, working on landscaping projects, and laying the foundation of a new house, which was made possible by the First Baptist Church of West and the West Long Term Recovery Center. The following week at least 60 more volunteers will be out.

The West, Texas Foundation is also working with Habitat for Humanity to build three more new houses.

Last month, FEMA awarded West ISD a $20 million dollar grant to use toward rebuilding the town's intermediate and high schools.
