Today in cities throughout  Central Texas hundreds of  employees of the Veterans Health Care System, veterans and community members took a couple hours out of their day to walk for a good cause.

The 4th annual Walk and Roll 2K took place throughout  Central Texas Veterans-facilities.
The event was to promote a healthy lifestyle and to raise awareness for the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program. More than 300 people participated in the 1.2 mile walk at the Waco location.

Volunteers unloaded trucks of cleaning supplies, clothing and other household items. Those items will directly help homeless veterans in Waco get back on their feet.

Outreach social worker Michael Ormsby says, "We have a supportive housing program that helps veterans movie into apartments. Some of them are coming off the streets and coming in with nothing so it would be great to get them started with some household items."

If you would like to directly give to the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program please visit.
