Temple, TX — A job fair in Temple Tuesday helped veterans reach their goal of employment.
More than 50 veterans came out to the Temple VA to meet with ten companies looking to higher former soldiers.
From 9 a.m. to noon, veterans looking for employment shook hands and passed out resumes.
Recent tax credits have incentivized employers to hire veterans, but according to Don Peace of the Temple VA's Vocational Rehabilitation department, there is more reason than that to bring on a former service member.
“A lot of veterans for one, are taught in the military to be team players," explained Peace.
"They’ve got a lot of valuable skills whether that be in the supply industry or warehousing. And a lot of skills to crossover into civilian agencies.”
For those that weren’t able to attend the fair, the VA says there are numerous resources available year round.
Just contact your local VA and ask for the Vocation Rehabilitation department.
