KILLEEN, TX — A Bell County Grand Jury has indicted a Killen man on a murder charge in connection to the shooting and stabbing death of a woman in December last year.
Daniel Lorenzo Wilson, 41, was arrested and charged for the death of Karen Louise Edwards, 43 in December 2013.
Wilson is currently in the Bell County Jail on a $1 million bond.
According to officials, Killeen Police Department received a 911 call on December 11, at 5:23 a.m., from a woman who said she was taken hostage by a man in the 900 block of Mimosa Drive. The woman told officers she was able to escape from the apartment and that the man was still inside with a weapon.
Officers arrived, spoke with the witness, and located the body of the victim behind 919 Mimosa Street. The tactical response unit was deployed and convinced the suspect to surrender. He was taken into custody without incident at 7:24 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the witness was at 916 Mimosa #1 with Wilson. That's when the victim, identified as Edwards, knocked on the door to speak with the Wilson. Wilson and Edwards exchanged words in the doorway when Wilson then reportedly shot her, stabbed her, and cut her with a sword. Wilson then reportedly had the witness help drag the body off. Police say Wilson, then threatened the witness and took her hostage and sometime later, she was able to escape unharmed and call 911.
