killeen — Killeen police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Barcelona Tuesday morning.
Officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired on the 3400 block of Barcelona Drive. When they arrived at the scene, officials found an open door at one of the residences. Policemen entered the building, and as they were clearing the inside, they discovered a man inside the back bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators tell KWKT an unknown person wearing dark clothing forced their way into the residence around 1:50 a.m. They made their way to the back bedroom and several gunshots were heard. The shooter fled the area by unknown means.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the 31-year-old victim dead at 2:22 a.m. The body has been sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for an autopsy. Detectives believe this shooting is possibly drug related.
The name of the man has been withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
