Killeen Police investigating homicide

Killeen Police are investigating the death of a man on 22nd Street Thursday morning.

Officers received a call at 10:22 a.m. in reference to a deceased person at 308 North 22nd St. 

Authorities arrived on scene and spoke with the caller who had said they found a resident who appeared to have been shot to death.

Investigations revealed that the night before a resident heard shots fire and called Killeen Police Department.

Officers were called to the area but could not locate anything.

Later the next morning at 9:30 a.m. a woman attempted to make contact with a male resident but there was no answer at the door.

Another friend also came to the apartment when they were told by a resident that shots were fired the night before.

The friend began banging on the door again but still received no response. He then pushed the door open and found the man dead against the door.

Justice of the Peace, Bill Cooke, pronounced Maurice Devon Carter, 33, deceased at 10:54 a.m. Cookie ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
