A 25 year-old Killeen woman is in custody Thursday night after stabbing an other woman in the head earlier in the day.

Police were called to the Metroplex Hospital in Killeen just after 4:30 a.m. when a 22 year-old woman was being treated with a life-threatening stab wound to the head.

She was then flown to Scott & White in Temple for treatment.

Police said the woman had gotten into a verbal fight with the alleged assaulter in the 600 block of Avenue K in Killeen.

The fight turned violent when the woman used a knife.

Police arrested the suspect shortly afterwards.

Luckily, the victim was stabilized by the afternoon.

“Once you hear ‘stabbing’ you think the worst, but in this case the victim is fortunate and coming out in the clear. So, that’s obviously a good thing for the victim," said Killeen PD Spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez.

Killeen police has not yet released the name of either woman.

The suspect is waiting to be formally charged.
