A Killeen woman was killed Sunday afternoon following a four-wheeler accident in Milam County.

According to Milam County's Sheriff's Office, a call came in from a private property, located in the 1000 block of West U.S. Highway 190, to report a four-wheeler accident. Deputy Hoyt of the Sheriff's Department arrived and found that 43-year-old Denise Bentz, of Killeen, was unresponsive to emergency medical personnel’s efforts to revive her.

Based on the investigation, it appeared that the driver, Kenneth Coggin, lost control and struck a tree. Both he and Bentz were thrown from the four-wheeler, where she then struck a tree, causing severe head trauma. Coggin appeared to have only sustained minor injuries. He was treated and released at the scene.

Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace, Andy Isaacs, performed the inquest on Bentz at the scene. She was then taken by Green Patterson Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.
