LIST: Texas tops Forbes' most valuable college football programs list

Even though the Texas Longhorns' season wasn't one to brag about, they are still considered the most valuable college football program in the nation, according to a study conducted by Forbes.

The Longhorns are now worth a whopping $139 million pulling in nearly 20 percent more revenue than any other team in the nation.  This number one sport is no stranger to Texas as they have reigned supreme since 2009. The cash UT is retaining comes from a dedicated fan base, a school specific television network and merchandise sales that blow away the competition.

The following is the list of the top 20 most valuable college football franchises in the country and their worth:  

  • Texas Longhorns - $139 million
     
  • Notre Dame Fighting Irish - $117 million
     
  • Alabama Crimson Tide - $110 million
     
  • LSU Tigers - $105 million
     
  • Michigan Wolverines - $104 million
     
  • Florida Gators - $94 million
     
  • Oklahoma Sooners - $92 million
     
  • Georgia Bulldogs - $91 million
     
  • Ohio State Buckeyes - $83 million
     
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers - $80 million
     
  • Auburn Tigers - $77 million
     
  • Arkansas Razorbacks - $74 million
     
  • USC Trojans - $73 million
     
  • Texas A&M Aggies - $72 million
     
  • Penn State Nittany Lions - $71 million
