Local hotel fire being investigated as arson

Killeen Fire Department is investigating a fire that started a local hotel Saturday evening.

It happened at 7:16 p.m. when firefighters were called to Modern Inn located on 1010 Root Avenue. 

On arrival, officials saw fire coming from a room on the top floor.

The person occupying the room was safely evacuated from the room by officers and the firefighters conducted a sweep for precautionary measures.

The room received fire damage and two adjacent rooms received some smoke damage.

The Killeen Fire Marshall's office is currently investigating this case as Arson and one suspect has been identified.
