In an effort to cut costs from the county's already tight budget, McLennan County officials have decided to start serving inmates powdered milk.

County commissioners researched that the switch could save the county and tax payers nearly $30,000 a year. The inmates started receiving the powdered milk earlier this month.

Meanwhile, officials are staying on the lookout for even more ways to save taxpayer and county dollars.
