Local K9 team gains national recognition

WACO -- A local police team is getting  national recognition and one of it's members has four legs.

Last week Temple Police Officer Jim Rankin and his K9 partner  Cyrus, competed at a training conference in Mississippi.

Rankin and Cyrus, a six-year-old pit bull mix and a shelter rescue dog, placed  fifth in the nation for narcotics detection.

They competed against 100 other teams across the country.

The pair have been working together for  four years.
