A Lafayette woman wanted for child sex trafficking has been arrested.

It happened just after 2:00 a.m. when the Houston Police Department arrested Darneesha Lashay Martin, 22, after an extensive and coordinated search by the Louisiana State Police, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, and Houston Police Department.

Martin is currently in a Houston jail awaiting to be transferred to Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. She is charged with trafficking children for sexual purposes and promoting prostitution.

On November 26, 2013, Lafayette Parish Deputies began looking for Martin and Alcoby Con LaSalle, 19, who were wanted for trafficking children for sexual purposes and promoting prostitution.

Police issued warrants for both Martin and LaSalle's arrest which resulted in an ongoing State Police investigation.

LaSalle was later captured the next day on November 27, 2013 shortly after 11:00 a.m. when he turned himself into Troopers at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

He was booked without incident and charged with trafficking children for sexual purposes and for promoting prostitution.

This investigation began during "Operation Carpe Diem", which was an operation that lasted two months and used Troopers from different sections of the Department of Public Safety.
