West, TX — A "Loving West" week of service has started in West. The week of volunteer work officially began on June 15.
Hundreds of volunteers are coming into town to help victims of the April 17 fertilizer plant explosion pick up the pieces and get on the road to recovery. Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery, the West Long Term Recovery Team, and The First Baptist Church in West have teamed together to tear down more than 100 heavily damaged homes.
These free services could easily cost homeowners thousands of dollars if they had to do it all by themselves.
