Bryan Police Department reports traffic is flowing again, following a major accident Friday morning on Earl Rudder Freeway.

According to Bryan PD, the accident happened around 8:00 a.m. in the 500 block of North Earl Rudder Freeway. Two vehicles were driving northbound on Highway 6, just south of Briarcrest. A white Ford 450 flat-bed truck was in the right hand lane. Preliminary investigation shows the a grey Ford 150 utilized the right hand shoulder to pass the other truck. As the grey truck merged back into the main lane of traffic, it clipped the F450. The grey truck spun out into the median, and the F450 left the right side of the roadway and drove into a creek bed and struck a concrete wall.

Both drivers were transported to St. Joseph hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the grey truck was cited for failing to pass to the right safely. The accident caused major congestion in the northbound lanes, and one lane was closed for approximately three hours. The roadway is now open for normal traffic.
