An East Texas man was killed by a vehicle he was working on Friday night in Bellmead.

According to the police report, officers responded to a single car accident involving a pedestrian at a Chevron gas station, located at 3612 Bellmead Drive, around 8 p.m. When officers and first responders arrived, a male was found on the ground, unresponsive and not breathing. ETMC arrived on the scene and transported the man, who was later identified as Jarrod Blunk of Eustace, Texas, to a local treatment facility.

During their investigation, officers discovered Blunk was working on  a car in the parking lot of the gas station. During the process of fixing the vehicle, he asked for assistance in getting the vehicle to start. The vehicle then lunged forward, striking Blunk.

Blunk was later pronounced dead at the hospital by JP Pete Peterson. No charges are being filed at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
