Temple, TX — Temple Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire in the 4800 Block of Hartrick Bluff Drive early Monday morning.
An engine company, clearing from a call on Southeast Loop 363, was first on scene and reported fire coming out two windows of the left side of a brick and wood framed house. All four residents of the home escaped. One bedroom received heavy fire damage with the rest of the home receiving smoke and heat damage.
Preliminary dollar loss to the structure and contents is estimated at $50,000. An elderly man was transported Scott & White EMS for evaluation of smoke exposure. The family is currently staying with relatives. Fire investigation determined the fire was unintentional and started in the bedroom. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Firefighters found a smoke alarm in the home, however it was not working.
Four Engine Companies, one Ladder Truck Company, one Fire Incident Commander, one support person; a total of 22 Temple Fire & Rescue personnel responded. The call was dispatched at 12:27 a.m., the first unit arrived at 12:32 a.m., and fire under control was given at 1:12 a.m. The last unit cleared the scene at 3:09 a.m.
Temple Police and Oncor Electric also responded to the call.
