WACO, Texas--Farmers, ranchers and consumers share common concerns about agriculture and food through Texas Food Connection Week.
To spur conversations with local consumers, McLennan County Farm Bureau (CFB) will host the Farmers' Share lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at Vitek's BBQ. During this lunch, customers will only pay 16 percent of the cost of their meal. This represents the amount farmers receive from each food dollar--16 cents. The remaining total for each customer's lunch will be paid by McLennan CFB.
Farmers and ranchers will be available to answer questions and introduce their urban neighbors to the men and women who grow their food, fuel and fiber.
Vitek's BBQ is located at 1600 Speight Avenue.
Texas Food Connection Week was established to connect farmers and ranchers with consumers and initiate discussions about agriculture and food-related issues, including affordability, nutrition, food safety, animal welfare, profitability and productivity.
