A switch from fresh milk to powdered milk being served at the county jail in May of this year is proving to be a money saver for McLennnan County.

County commissioners renewed their contract for the upcoming year to continue serving inmates powdered milk. The estimated savings is around $21,000 for the year.

The money saved by switching milk sources will spare officials some funding to use elsewhere within their already tight budget.
