Memorial Day marks beginning of fire season
WACO -- Another thing to remember as Memorial Day approaches?
We're also entering wildfire season.
So remember to watch your fires.
Though McLennan County is not in a drought now, we are still dealing with the aftermath of last years fires.
So if you plan on camping and enjoying the outdoors this Memorial Day weekend watch your campfire and make sure it's out and cold before you walk off.
Because one spark could lead to the next forest fire, and Texas Forest Service crews say it's already starting again.
"the hotter it is, you know when the wind picks up, it still can cause a fire. We've seen campfires starting fires, we've seen road side fires already starting this year," spokesperson for TFS, Mary Kay Hicks said.
Hicks also says just because the grass is green does not mean it wont burn.
