Killeen Police are investigating a deadly crash on Bridgewood Drive Sunday evening.

Officers received a 911 call at 5:46 p.m. on Sunday, in reference to a major crash where injuries were reported in the area of Bridgewood and Golden Gate Drive. Upon the officer’s arrival, they found a black and gold Suzuki motorcycle, a gray Ford F-150 truck, and a deceased male in the 4300 block of Bridgewood Drive.

The preliminary investigation revealed the male was riding the black and gold motorcycle, traveling northbound on Bridgewood at a high rate of speed. The driver, who has been identified as James Gaston Jr., 46, of Killeen, failed to negotiate the curve, which turned eastbound, causing the motorcycle to collide with the parked Ford pickup. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Gaston deceased at 6:42 p.m.

No autopsy has been ordered at this time. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this case and information will be released as it becomes available.
