New manufacturing school is ready to open

Waco, TX — School starts in two weeks for most districts in the area, and in Waco, the district is gearing up to open their brand-new manufacturing school.
The Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy, or GWAMA, is a joint project involving Waco ISD, Texas State Technical College, the Waco Business League and numerous local businesses that require a skilled labor force.
The first two trades to be taught will be welding and metal manufacturing.
By the fall of 2014, the school could could have certification tracks for plumbing, HVAC and masonry.
The school isn't just for Waco ISD either; It is available to qualifying students in 10 local districts.
