Waco, Tx — New road rules are on the way for Texas drivers.
A new law will require drivers to slow down 20 miles lower than the posted speed limit or change lanes if you see a TXDoT vehicle pulled over with their lights on. This law is very similar to the one already in place for law enforcement and emergency vehicles. TXDoT says this law will increase safety for their employees and contractors working on the roadways.
"Now, we are anticipating greater visibility. We're anticipating the public to take a little bit more action in regard to us being out there. And, we look forward to it," said TXDoT spokesman Ken Roberts.
The law is set to take effect on September 1, this year. If you are caught in violation, you could face up to a 500 dollar fine.
