belton, tx — This week, thousands of Belton residents have been receiving trash and recycling carts.
The city recently decided to transition from self-provided containers to vendor provided containers. The transition is expected to save residents money on their garbage rates and promote recycling. About 9,600 carts are being assembled and delivered. All new carts are expected to be delivered by Friday.
"This change will allow people to have these new trash cans and recycling carts delivered to their homes. If residents want their old trash cans picked up, Waste Management will do that," said Belton City Spokesman Paul Romer.
Collection schedules will also be changing, where trash will now be picked up just once a week. The new trash and recycling schedules begin on January 6.
