Nine cases of West Nile Virus confirmed

WACO -- Four more cases of West Nile Virus have been confirmed in McLennan County, bringing the total number of people infected to nine.

One elderly woman in McLennan County has already died from the virus this month.

It's contracted by mosquito bites.

The health district urges everyone to avoid being outside during dawn and dusk when mosquitos are most active and wear repellent as well as clothing that covers your skin, to help avoid getting bitten and infected.
