Overning shooting leads to 1st murder of the year in Waco

Waco officers responded to a shooting, early Monday morning, at 1301 West Waco Drive, at Eddies Smoke Shop.

Officers discovered two males had been shot. Both were transported by ETMC to Hillcrest Hospital where one of the victims, Dhaodrique Eastland, 17, of Waco, was pronounced dead. Eastland had been shot in the upper torso.

The other victim, Rahideame Washington, 19, of Waco, was shot in his forearm.

As of right now, it is unknown what led to the shooting.

Detectives believe the shooter is a black male who fled the scene on foot.

The Eastland's family has been notified.

Special Crimes Detectives were called to the scene to assist along with the Victim Services and Crime Scene Units.

This is the first recorded murder of the year in Waco.
