Pet owners who have not claimed their animals, following the West explosion have until next Tuesday to pick up their pets.

Many unclaimed animals were picked up and taken to the Waco Humane Animal Shelter following the April 17 explosion. Pet owners have until June 11 to pick up their pets or make arrangements with the shelter. After that time, the animals will either be put up for adoption or placed in foster care.

Shelter officials say If a animal is locked up and kept out of its previous surroundings for a prolonged period of time , it develops “Cage Aggression”. These measures are being taken to prevent this from happening for the health and safety of these animals. None of these animals will be put down.

If you wish to foster or adopt an animal, please contact the Waco Animal Shelter at 254-754-1454. More than 260 animals were picked up after the April 17 explosion. As of last Tuesday the shelter had five dogs, five cats and a parakeet yet to be claimed.
