Waco police and Lacy Lakeview police are investigating a pair of early morning break-ins that happened at two Family Dollar stores. Police say the Family Dollar located at 1001 Crest Drive in Lacy Lakeview was broken into shortly before 2 a.m. this morning. That break-in was followed by a another Family Dollar store break-in located at 718 N. New Road in Waco at around 3:30 am.

Police say two black males, wearing a mask ,smashed the front doors of the store with a sledge hammer. When inside the men tried to get into the stores safe.

Lacy Lakeview police Chief John Truehitt said, "detectives are still trying to determine if anything was taken from the store."

Waco police are also looking for a white male who entered into the store minutes after the two men left. According to Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, the white male entered the broken door and stole a couple items. Officers believe this was a crime of opportunity case and not related to the initial break-in.

Police say the two break-ins are similar but they are still investigating if they are related.
