Police release photo of robber wanted for attempted murder

The Waco Police Department has released a photo of the gunman who tried to kill a convenience store clerk on Sunday night.

At 9:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of North 18th Street to reports of a robbery in progress at the Snacks Convenience Store.

According to the Waco Police Department, two men entered the store-- one armed with a gun -- and began exchanging gunfire with the 48-year-old clerk, who was also carrying a gun.

After running from the store, one of the men returned and exchanged more shooting with the employee. A struggle ensued over the weapons and the thief was able to hit the clerk over the head multiple times with the weapon. He then took the victim's gun, an undisclosed amount of cash and ran from the scene.

The first robber is described as a 5'9", 210 pounds, wearing a black hoodie and tan pants. He is also bald. The second alleged criminal is said to have a thin build, short in stature and wearing a black hoodie with black shorts. Both robbers were last seen running from the store.

The worker suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was taken by emergency crews to a local hospital for his injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time.
