PORT ARTHUR (KBMT) -- Port Arthur police have arrested a man they say kept a woman locked in his house for five weeks.
Jermaine Champs, 36, of Port Arthur, is charged with aggravated sexual assault.
The victim, who police say is in her thirties, escaped from a house located at 730 Nashville Ave. Monday. She told police that Champs sexually assaulted her and tortured her numerous times while she was being held.
Champs was taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Rod Carroll told 12News Champs could be arraigned as early as 9 a.m. Tuesday.
