Waco ISD officials boast great participation in the free student ride program offered in partnership with Waco Transit System.

According to district officials, 2,470 student rides were give in February, which set an all-time high for the initiative. When the program was first officially offered in August, after being piloted May 1 through June 6 of last year, about 100 students per week used the Waco Transit System buses. Now, more than 100 per day take advantage of the free transportation. The highest daily attendance was reported in late February, with 143 students riding the Waco Transit buses.

The grand total for student riders is now 10,274, and that number keeps growing.

On top of the free rides, Waco Transit System began the realtime tracking app earlier this year. The app allows riders to track the buses' locations in real time. To find out more on the app, please visit
