The City of Robinson County is investigating a water clerk after thousands of dollars went missing from water bill payments.

Britoni Nors,24, was arrested on Thursday and is charged with theft by a public servant, and tampering with a government record.

According to an affidavit, on June 25, the City of Robinson filed a police report after an internal audit showed money discrepancies from the City's Water Department.

The investigation determined that Nors, stole money from customers who paid their water bills in cash. Nors was taking cash and applying either a partial amount to the customers account or she would take the entire payment. The 24-year-old tried to cover up the discrepancies by making manual adjustments to the Water Department's account system, said the affidavit.

The investigation found that between May 6, and June 9, Nors, stole a total of $2,938.50 during 29 transactions.
