
Pennington (KETK) — On Thursday morning, officials confirmed a second tornado touched down in Houston County on Christmas Day.
The first twister landed near the the town of Pennington at around 9:25 a.m. The tornado traveled along Highway 287, downing numerous trees and damaged or destroyed several buildings. It was classified as an EF-3.
The second twister occurred almost directly after in the same area at around 9:40 a.m. The EF-0 only made it about a third of a mile before it dissipated, according to the National Weather Service.
The EF-3 was 300 yards wide and reached 150 miles per hour winds.
The EF-0 was 30 yards wide and reached 75 miles per hour winds.
No deaths were reported.
