Killeen — The Killeen Police Department is investigating numerous theft and fraud cases that have involved 31-year-old Johnathan Roger Barton. He has been involved with approximately 24 incidents in the Killeen area within the last two years.
Barton usually poses as a traveling meat salesman who contacts residents and accepts checks or cash for a meat order. He then fails to deliver the items ordered and keeps the money; he has on occasion been alleged to have committed forgery using the checks given to him by his victims.
Barton is an extremely persuasive salesman and will often claim that he has a regular customer base of reputable people. He currently has two active Killeen warrants for Theft with more charges pending. Barton is also a registered sex offender with the Austin Police Department.
He is known to work with at least one accomplice, 31-year-old Kenneth Wade Lowery. Lowery has several active Killeen arrest warrants stemming from his involvement in these theft/fraud cases. Lowery also uses the aliases Wade Lowery and Larry Hooker.
These suspects are operating a white 2006 Ford F150 pickup bearing TX/BG92765. If either of these suspects make contact with you and offer sell you anything, please do not give them money or checks.
