Waco, TX — The Waco Police Department is touting success over the weekend's drug takeback program.
Police officers took in six trash bags full of unused, unwanted prescription drugs.
Nearly 300 pounds of medication was taken by the DEA Monday.
The federal agency will properly dispose of the chemicals, instead of letting them be entered into the water system.
Other police departments across Central Texas also accepted prescription drugs anonymously.
Waco PD spokesperson Sgt. Patrick Swanton said the annual event has grown each and every year.
