Hamilton County, TX — A skull discovered floating in the Leon River, near Gatesville last month may have been stolen from Hamilton County.
According to Nathan Gohlke, Chief of Police for Gatesville PD, the skull was discovered around 5:15 p.m. on May 5 in Brown Park, located in the 100 block of East Leon Street. Two people were looking at the river when one saw the skull, fished it in, and brought it to the police department. Officers were then dispatched to investigate the scene.
"We sent officers down to the park to see if there was anything else linked to the skull," said Gohlke.
Police later confirmed with the Hamilton County Sheriff's office that the skull was among several other things reported stolen in the county in late April.
At this point, authorities aren't releasing much information, like where the skull may have been stolen from.
