McGregor, TX — SpaceX warned McGregor residents a louder, longer test would happen this week at their testing facility.
And Wednesday afternoon, we saw why in a testing video released by the private space exploration company on YouTube.
What you are looking at is the Grasshopper rocket prototype.
It has gone through extensive testing over the past year.
In the test it flies to an altitude of 250 meters with a 100-meter lateral maneuver before returning to the center of the launch pad.
The grasshopper is taller than a ten-story building which makes the feat all that more impressing.
When ready for official use, the grasshopper will be the world's first reusable rocket.
