Suspect arrested in Waco home invasion

Waco officers responded to a call around 5:30 .a.m, Thursday morning in the 1700 block of  North Martin Luther King on a possible robbery in progress.

It was discovered  Durante Laearl Levi, 18,  forced his way into the female victim’s home at gunpoint. After a struggle with the victim, Levi fled the scene. The victim told police she opened her door to someone knocking. Levi pulled a handgun and was able to power his way into the apartment. He threatened harm to the victim if she made any noise.

The victim struggled with Levi in the apartment and was able to break free and escape. She ran to a neighboring apartment attempting to alert someone for help. Levi ran from the scene.

Responding officers were able to arrest Levi in the area and recovered a pistol near the suspect.

The victim had minor injuries from struggling with Levi during the incident.

 Levi was transported to the McLennan Co. Jail where he is charged with Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit an Assault.
