MART -- Three juveniles are in county jail tonight after escaping the Texas Youth Commission facility in Mart.

Around 5 Sunday evening, 18-year-old Ladarious Brown and 17-year-olds Larry Burge and Stuart Candis escaped out of TYC.

Authorities were searching for the boys when a Mart officer spotted them near Thompson and Calvery Eskew Road.

They were taken into custody and booked in the McLennan County Jail.

But TYC says how they got out is still under investigation.

"We're reviewing the incident to determine what steps were taken and were not taken and we will make corrections as needed. This is certainly something that is a very high priority us and we will take steps to ensure that, you know, something like this does not occur again," Jim Hurley, spokesperson for TYC said.

Authorities tell us there may have been a hole in the fence surrounding TYC.

The last time inmates escaped was about 6 years ago.

The juveniles will now be tried as adults for Escape.
