Temple PD investigates homicide

Friday morning, around 8:40 a.m., Temple police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of East Avenue C.

Upon arrival, Officers found an approximately 30 year old adult male in a back bedroom of the residence. The victim had suffered apparent severe trauma to the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace G.W. Ivey. An autopsy was ordered performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.

At this time, the preliminary investigation shows that the victim and two other persons were at the residence at the time of the incident. The two subjects were interviewed by Detectives with the Temple Police Department General Investigations Unit. Willie Frank Roberson Jr., a 43 year old Temple man, was subsequently taken into custody for the offense.

The case will be reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office either later Friday or Saturday.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

This is the second homicide of 2013 reported to the Temple Police Department.
