Temple Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting.

According to officials, the shooting took place Tuesday night, at about 8:03 p.m. Temple police responded to a complaint of shots fired in the 1000 block of South 29th Street. The first officers on scene reported hearing additional shots as they exited their patrol cars. The officers approached the scene and located three subjects, one female and two males, each suffering from a various number of gunshot wounds outside a residence. Officers also found a handgun in the possession of one of the males.

Temple Fire and Rescue, as well as Scott and White EMS, arrived on scene and immediately began evaluating and treating the subjects. The female, identified as Shamara Henry, 30, of Killeen, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two males were transported to Scott and White Hospital, where the man found in possession of the handgun, Quista Henry, 30, of Killeen, was subsequently pronounced dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace Donald Engelking pronounced both deaths.

The second injured male remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

The Temple Police Department General Investigations Unit continues their follow up investigations, interviewing people who knew the individuals, and witnesses to attempt to determine why the incident occurred.
