On Friday around 10:54 p.m,, Temple Police responded to the “Central Food Mart” 2004 North 3rd Street, in reference to a robbery that just occurred. Officers arrived and met the store owner, the clerk on duty, and an additional witness to the offense.

The victims reported that a light skinned black male wearing a gray or white hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, and a white cloth covering his lower face entered the store. The suspect was carrying a long barreled pump action rifle, which he pointed at the victims, and ordered them to the floor. The suspect then forced the business owner to open the safe and assaulted the clerk on duty by kicking or striking him. An undisclosed amount of money was provided to the subject before he exited the store. As the suspect left the store, he tripped over the doorway threshold. The business owner produced a handgun and discharged the weapon, but missed the subject. The suspect was seen fleeing north from the business on foot, and is believed to have been picked up by a dark colored pickup truck.

The victims were not injured during this offense.
