Temple PD seeks help in murder, theft case

On Thursday, March 21, around 5:20 p.m., the Temple Police Department received a report of a deceased subject in the 3100 block of Monroe Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found Russell Hamby, 50, dead in his home.

Justice of the Peace David Barfield pronounced Mr. Hamby deceased and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

On Friday, March 22, 2103, the preliminary autopsy results were received and the examiners with the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences confirmed that Mr. Hamby died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Temple Investigators are now investigating this death as a homicide.

Through the investigation it was determined that a black 47” Vizio, E470VA model; 1080p, LCD flat screen HDTV is missing from the home of the victim.
