The city of Killeen and the rest of Central Texas mourned the loss of one of its bravest Thursday as Killeen Police Officer Robert Hornsby was laid to rest.

Robert Hornsby, 32, was killed in the line of duty early Sunday morning.

Hornsby leaves behind a wife and two young kids. His family were the last to be seated in a room packed from wall to wall with fellow law enforcement.

Hornsby's wife, Kimberly, recited the 'Police Officer's Prayer.' and said the words directly reflect the past five days, and perhaps the tough road ahead.

“Lord, I ask for courage; courage to face and conquer my own fears. Courage to take me where others will not go. I ask for strength; strength of body to take care of others," said Kimberly.

She then gave insight on Robert, or Bobby as he was known by those close to him.

“My husband was one-of-a-kind," said Kimberly. His lofe for people was unconditional and infectious. He will leave a hole in my heart- all of our hearts because we love him. However, I and you should take peace in knowing that he left this world in a heroic and brave fashion.”

Hornsby’s casket was carried by fellow Killeen police officers as tears could be seen throughout the room.
