Three people were arrested after authorities say they tried to steal metal from a construction site on Tuesday night.

Peggy Joyce Johnson, 40, Larry Dowayne Corsey, 52, and Tommy Earl Lewis, 57, all are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.

According to Sgt. Swanton with the Waco Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possible theft located in the 1000 block of South 8th street around 7:15 p.m.

When officers arrived they noticed the three individuals were attempting to load metal into the back of a pickup.

Lewis and Johnson were arrested on scene while Corsey walked away from the site. Officers arrested the 52-year-old a short time later. Corsey was then taken to Providence Hospital to be treated for a cut on his arm.

All three were taken to McLennan County Jail. They are each held in lieu of $1,000 bond.
