Trial date set for former West paramedic accused of having bomb materials
West, TX — The trial date of a former West paramedic, who was arrested just days after the deadly West Fertilizer Plant explosion, has been postponed.
Bryce Ashley Reed, 31, is accused of possessing bomb-making material. Reed was arrested May 9 by federal agents for having the materials. He was released on bond on August 22.
Reed's trial has been set for October 15.
Since his arrest, Reed has undergone a mental evaluation that examined his competency, sanity, and overall mental health to stand trial.
An investigation into the situation was also conducted by the Texas Rangers and the McLennan County Sheriff's Office. District Attorney Abel Reyna reviewed the results of that investigation and said he found no evidence linking Reed to the fire or the plant explosion on April 17.
