COLLEGE STATION -- A tragic car accident over the weekend kills two college students and shuts down part of George Bush Drive today in College Station as police continue to investigate what happened.

Police tell us College Station firefighters were headed back to their station around four Saturday morning from an unrelated call when they noticed a car's headlights flashing in a ditch off George Bush Drive.

When the fire truck stopped to check it out they found 20-year-old, Luca Bonasera, from College Station and 19-year-old, Jade Marie Vasquez, of Bryan dead inside the vehicle.

"It appears that the vehicle was traveling east on George Bush Drive West, probably lost control and hit a curb and then ended up in the ditch on the south side of the roadway," said Officer Rhonda Seaton.

A reconstruction team was out at the scene today trying to determine exactly what happened when the car crashed.

Police say both victims were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident and their bodies have been sent for autopsies.

Bonasera was a sophomore at A&M in College Station and Vasquez was a sophomore at the University's Galveston campus.
