Killeen, tx — Update (Thursday): On Wednesday, October 17, 2012, detectives received information that Cliffton Montague was in the 400 block of South 2nd Street in Killeen.
Officers responded and located the murder suspect. He was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. without incident and transported to the Killeen jail.
Montague was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin, who set bail at $1,000,000. Montague has been transferred to Bell County jail.
Update (Wednesday): This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s office and a complaint was returned charging 26-year old CLIFFTON SIVAD MONTAGUE with Murder. Justice of the Peace Cooke issued a warrant for his arrest.
The Killeen Police Department is requesting the community’s help in locating Montague, who is still at large. Montague is considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS. Montague is described as a black male, 6’/180 lbs. with very short black hair and a tattoo of the name “Krystal” on his neck. Orignal Story: One person is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in Killeen late Thursday night.
Officers responded to 3203 Hereford Lane apartment #D at 11:03pm, after a 911 call was received telling them someone had been shot at that address. Upon the officers arrival they found a 24 year old deceased male inside the living room.
The officers began an investigation which revealed that the victim was visiting the apartment when he and another male became involved in a verbal altercation. The altercation then turned physical and the male shot the victim and fled the apartment. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Latternace Deshawn Newsome deceased at 11:35pm and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences.
