Killeen, Tx — UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 38 year old, Jose Luis Mateo.
This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging Vilmarie Mateo with Murder. She is currently in the Killeen City Jail awaiting arraignment and will be transferred to the Bell County Jail later today.
This incident continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.
Killeen Police are investigating a death that happened Sunday afternoon in the 2500 block of Wiley Drive.
Officers received a 911 call at 3:53 p.m. telling them there had been a domestic dispute and shots had been fired on Wiley Dr. When authorities arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound and a female inside the house.
Through the investigation, it was determined the 36-year-old woman was involved in the domestic dispute; she was taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail. The victim, whose age is unknown at this time, was pronounced dead at 4:34pm by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin. An autopsy is to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The couple’s nine-year-old son was also inside the house at the time of the shooting. He was not injured during this incident and has been released to family members.
The name of the victim has been withheld pending the notification of next of kin and the name of the woman has been withheld pending the issuance of formal charges.
