While fire crews were battling a North Waco apartment complex fire, they got a call about a vacant house fire happening a few blocks over.

The call came in about a half hour after the apartment fire, around 1:30 a.m., in the 1600 block of North Fifth Street, across from the zoo. The same house was on fire May 7 when the vacant home next door went up in flames and it spread. The four occupants of the home were rescued by Waco Police officers patrolling the area as fire crews showed up and put the fire out.

The area was searched after the fire broke out Thursday for a possible suspect that started the fire, but no arrests were made. Waco PD made a statement about the possibility of a serial arsonist going around the area last month. Investigation is ongoing.
